It rained heavily on most days in October last year. Generally, England is the driest country in the United Kingdom. The statistics have largely remained the same, but 2023 was actually England’s 11th wettest year since records began in 1836 and the 7th wettest October on record.
Sandy enjoyed rainy days. In fact she never really thought much about them.That was until the October experience.
Traveling to meet with her sister, Marva, in the city center, she opted to use public transport. In this way, she could relax and enjoy the scenery.

She took a seat on the upper deck. “The views are much better from this vantage point”, she thought as they journeyed on. They had not traveled very far, when the sight of Pluvial floods caught everybody’s attention. This body of water gave testament to the amount of rain that had fallen. In the midst of the flood, a large collection of British Water Fowl could be seen. They, were enjoying the treat.
Sarah, was disappointed, because she could not identify nor name them. From the large gathering, it was obvious that many different types of water fowls were there and this fascinated her. Moving swiftly, she managed to capture the moment, on her phone’s camera. And from that instant, she was committed. Her intention, to identify the birds and learn about them. She,identified seven. And since her amazing experience, she has developed a keen interest in birds. If you visit her home one day, you will see bird feeders, hanging in her backyard.
