MINISTRY OF GRACE - MID WEEK BOOST

Grace Through Resistance

In the year 2009, Marnie met a very amazing woman, who at ninety three, was articulate, with an extroverted personality.
Leaving for work that morning, she did not anticipate how interesting the day ahead would be.
“A volunteer, is needed for Dawson’s ward, they are short staffed “, Matron Reid informed her team.
” I will go “. Marnie’s response without hesitation, brought calm to an already anxious staff room.
It was not the first time, that she volunteered. On this occasion, she was assigned to do a home visit with the Physio Therapist, Occupational Therapist and a patient, Mela. Mela lived in a beautiful home cleverly adapted to meet the needs of she and an ailing husband. They were both of Polish descent and had been living in the locality for more than fifty years.
Over a cup of tea, Mela gave excerpts of her interesting life. But the period of her life which she was most proud of, were the years as a resistance fighter during WW11. Both she and her husband, were members of the Polish Resistance.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 4:7

They were part of the largest underground force in occupied Europe, with estimates that it comprised, between 200,000 and 600,000 members.
In 2022, Poland celebrated 80 years of the formation of the Home Army Resistance Movement.
