They were accustomed to seeing each other, traversing the busy corridors of the local hospital. Samona, a trained nurse from Ecuador and Trudee, Clinical Educator on the Orthopaedic Ward.
” Oh yes, a twelve month Secondment at the University, I am thrilled”. Was Trudee’s response to the Matron.
“You will begin in two weeks, please report to The University’s Administration Office at 8am”.

Trudee was familiar with the university as a student.
As an assessor, she would be assisting with the training and assessing in Objective Structural Clinical Examinations, (OSCE ). An assessment and training program for nurses trained outside of the EU/EEA.This prerequisite was implemented by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, UK (NMC) . Once upon successful completion, they are registered and given the right to function as Registered Nurses in The United Kingdom.

At the end of the secondment, Trudee returned to the Orthopedic ward. Samona had graduated and was employed full-time. However the dynamics of their relationship had changed dramatically. No longer were they familiar faces, along the corridor, but colleagues.
Samona, confessed ” I was buoyed up, when I was assigned to Trudee’s batch. Her behavior and deportment along the corridors, were admirable. As a lecturer, she exemplified professionalism in every word and action”.
